“How do you stop fire burning your feet?”
Is going to be one of the questions I hope they can answer when I walk over fire to raise money for Simon on the Streets in November.
Quite why I decided to do this I’m not sure, but I think the charity deserves your support for me sacrificing my feet!
Simon on the Streets, the chosen charity of The Marketing Optimist, does amazing work to help the homeless of Leeds and Bradford.
The wonderful people at Simon on the Streets recognise that emotional support has a high-value and understand that building a quality relationship with their clients underpins any support they provide. This emotional support evolves over time to underpin practical support around advocacy and accessing specialist services.
They are not supported by the Government so have to raise all their own funds.
I completed the fire walk!
The fire walk was amazing. There were around 30 other people there supporting Simon on the Streets and around another 50 walking over the fire to support Mind Leeds.
On the night Simon on the Streets fundraising total stood at an amazing £3,000!
The walk itself was a bit nerve-wracking until I began to walk. It’s actually really exciting and doesn’t hurt at all. Imagine walking over hot sand while on holiday and you get the idea. The worst thing I got was black feet!
Help us raise £1000 for Simon on the Streets
I’ve set an ambitious target of raising £1,000 for the charity via this event. So far we’ve raised £480 which is amazing but we’d love to hit our target. As the winter draws in existing on the streets becomes even tougher, so please dig deep and help in any way you can via our JustGiving page.
