New blood at The Marketing Optimist

By: Christopher Fox

Introductions are in order, so here it goes! – I’m Chris Fox, and I’m the new starter at The Marketing Optimist, It’s good to meet you.

After working in the business as a contractor for a number of months, I felt I’d found the company I was looking for, and the business I felt invested in and dedicated to. In short, I’m very pleased to now be working here permanently in my role as Marketing Executive, and I’m keen to resume the work I began for the company’s wonderful clients.

A little about my background

Since entering a recording studio at age 12, armed with an albums worth of material that I’d written, the course my life was going to take for the foreseeable future, had begun. As a bandleader, songwriter and solo artist, I toured the country extensively, selling records, playing shows and building and managing my brand and marketing. Securing a number of exciting roles in businesses along the way, I worked hard to develop my professional skill set, before I was able to build my career in music to a place where it was profitable enough for me to do full-time.

In 2015, I began trading and earning my living as a self-employed musician and songwriter, and in 2016, made the move to Leeds from Warrington. For the next two years, I made a salary I was proud of, in an industry known for its poor economic return, and saw the huge benefits of the marketing I continuously conducted.

With the rising audience figures I was able to generate, the increasing number of opportunities to perform around the country (commanding higher fees) and the awareness of my brand that I was able to generate, my career seemed unstoppable. While my love for songwriting, performance and music itself have never faltered, and likely never will, it became clear to me that while talent surely played a part, it was largely my use of digital marketing practices that generated my income.

In late 2017, after experiencing an intense period of illness, I began to analyse the life that my career afforded me, and the structure I’d started to desire. Passionate about marketing and the huge part it had to play in my success, I secured a number of Digital Marketing positions, starting right here, contracting for The Marketing Optimist. I’ve also worked as Marketing Executive, Copywriter and Creative Marketer for a number of other businesses. Just before achieving my initial position at The Marketing Optimist, I folded the act I used to tour and record as, and started a new recording project, which I continue to grow and develop.

What am I going to bring to the business?

Besides my passion for the industry, my long history working in creative industries enables me to be a source of free-flowing creative ideas, and has played a part in the development of my dynamic approach. On the other hand, my experience running my own successful business within the music industry, and managing its brand and marketing, provides me with the necessary skills to make ideas scalable and profitable.

I take this experience, (which provides me with the understanding of the incredible work and dedication taken to build and grow the brands and businesses I market), and my experience working in a number of Digital Marketing and Copywriter/Creative roles to:

  • Nurture and develop brands
  • Craft and publish blogs, full website copy, engaging social posts, press packs and client/customer facing materials
  • Create engaging sales-focused video, info-graphic and written content
  • Manage social channels, to generate sales and increase engagement
  • SEO Projects

Finally, my customer-focused approach helps me to understand the customer base/mind set of my client’s audience, and enables me to produce impactful results.

If there are jewels in my crown, they’re my ability to communicate anything through the written word and engaging unique content pieces, my creative, considered and meticulous approach, and my absolute dedication to deliver for my clients.

Richard, the CEO at The Marketing Optimist, and I, share the same passion for marketing and helping businesses and brands achieve their goals. The world of marketing is a thrilling one, and we are dedicated to providing our clients with the incredible results that effective marketing, and a dedicated team, can achieve.

Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn, I’m always scrolling through for my dose of the continuous marketing discussion taking place there. Oh, and if you’re a little curious about the music I mentioned previously, here’s a music video.

I look forward to meeting your acquaintance, and perhaps working together.
